Hello All! Since my first blogathon was a great success I am very proud to announce I have decided to host another! For those of you who don’t already know, despite being American I am a bonafide Royalist and absolutely love the British Royal Family. Deciding to combine my two great loves, Royalty and Film, the theme for this blogathon will be “Royalty on Film” starting on the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation- June 2 and ending on June 5
Interested? Keep reading !!!

Thanks. Rasputin And The Empress ( 1932 ) is another one I would love to do. I wrote about it last year, but it wasn’t that great, and needs redoing, so put me down for that.

Would you accept an entry on All the King’s Men (1949), a noir about a corrupt politician?
LikeLike
Sure! I’ll put you down-even though he isn’t “royal” he sure is just as corrupt as the rest of them! what a great pov!

I figured the title might be ok. If you know any noir flicks featuring actual royalty, I’m game!

Your choice is fine and I very much welcome it 🙂 ! I’m stumped- I don’t know of any noirs that crossed paths with royalty- not even any British noir.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Maybe I’ll find some actor or actress who became royalty, like Grace Kelly.
LikeLike
Rita Hayworth was a real life princess and made noirs- just food for thought!

How was she a princess? I only know her background as the molested child of a performing father who had her lie about her age to make money in a dance act.
LikeLike
She married prince Aly kahn- they divorced but she was royalty during her marriage
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh jeez, I forgot about her marriage to Aly Khan. I’ve already written about Gilda, but I can do Lady from Shanghai and her relationship with Welles and then Khan.

Sounds Great! Will change your entry- look forward to reading it

It’s a film I still haven’t seen. Hayworth had such a mess of a life in so many ways, and Welles may have loved her, but making her cut off her hair and bleach it for Lady from Shanghai always seems like abuse. Anyhow, I’ll write something fab on it.

Great idea for a blogathon! So many great films to choose from. I’d like to do The King and I. I didn’t realize how highly fictionalized the story was until I read about the real King Mongkut and Anna Leonowens, so I think I might compare his portrayal in the movie to the person in real life.

Hey Emily. Would I be able to change my topics? And also, as time permits I’m sadly not going to have the time to do three entries. However I’m still happy to do two posts but on two different entries because my original choices would be so long to write about as I like to give a detailed account, especially when things are hectic. So if it’s alright, I’ll pick two different films?

The Bride Wore Red is not really anything to do with royalty, but Joan gets faked into playing a countess and they treat her like a princess. I hope that’s alright, otherwise I’ll happily choose something else.
